Still Going Strong

Alrigt, today is the 5th day of my raw honey and Kinky Curly Curling Custard experiment, and my hair is still alive and kicking. It's still shiny like no man's business - it seriously looks like I got a tex-lax, silkener, or any of those chemical processes. It's still very much defined, I've only re-twisted one twist on my head since 5 days ago.

The only thing negative that I can say is that a little bit of shrinkage has occured from the day I did the original twist until now; but this is to be expected because my hair is prone to shrinkage like nothing else. I can't even find a comparison. It's just that ridiculous!

But yea, for the most part, all I do is wake up in the morning lightly spray on some H2O, slap on one of a head band at the crown of my hair: my hair has a side part, so i have some falling to the side of my face and the rest going to the back. I put on a head band in the middle and the way it cuts it makes it look cuter.

Can't really wish for any thing more for my hair other than Lenghth!!
Now, my quest is growth! I made the mistake of getting carried away with the scissors a couple of months back before I discovered KCCC, and now the sides of my hair are slightly uneven, plus, I would be working with a lot more length now.

Anyway, that's all in the past now, gotta look to the future and hope that my concoction of honey and Kinky Curly Curling Custard promotes fast growth!

Honey I Luv!

HONEY! yes, HOney! 100% raw honey to be precise, might be the key to my hair's future; alongside with Kinky-Curly Curling Custard, of course.

Ok, here's what I did:

~I didn't wash my hair or anything, which already had some KCCC
~I took a couple of drops of raw unto my fingers, slid it on a small section of my hair (should have added water for some moisture, I didn't do it initially, but I highly reccomend it to cut throught the stickiness)

~Next, I slid on a pinch size of KCCC on top of the honey, and twisted the section in a two strand twist.

~I repeated the same process for my whole head

~Sat under the hooded dryer for 15 minutes or so.

~Left the twists and let the rest air dry

~Slapped on a scarf on my head and went to bed

~ Woke up the next morning, unraveled the twists, which held very nicely, and misted my hair with plain H2O!

~ The result, no matting, which my hair is famous for.

The style holds very well, Less Shrinkage!, More Length, Way More Shine! Shine! Shine!

The stickiness can be cut with water, which is the only thing that I spray on every morning.

When I say spray, I mean, that I lightly mist my hair with H2O. It is not soaking wet, I repeat, Not soaking wet; just enough to revive the Shape & Shine!

It's been 3 days now, and my style is still intact! No need for re-twisting because the style holds very well! I cannot stress this enough, the style holds (My hair is not matted - as much, slightly, but not much) and I don't have to re-twist my hair every single night like I have done in the previous months.

Raw Honey (It's better because it's not refined - has all the minerals and goodies still intact) and Kinky Curly Curling Custard, a winning combo!

I will update with the process of how long the style lasts.

Ok! so I think I have finally found my new hair style thank to Kinky Curly Curling Custard, and I will tell you why. My hair has definition, slightly more elongated, and perhaps; the most important, "and," the style last (all I had to do is spray some water on it in the morning and the curls come back to life). I have kinda this funky very defined fro going on - I heart it.

Anyway here are the steps:
Wash hair
Rinse
Add Conditioner
Leave Conditioner in (Do Not Rinse Out)
Add Coconut Oil (or other oil of preference)
Comb with Large tooth comb (in shower)
Brush with Denman brush (outside of shower)
Slap on Kinky Curly Curling Custard all over hair ( dollop size)
Twist hair (in sections) into loose small/medium single twists
(Use finger-tip size KCCC while twisting)
Sit under hood dryer for 30 min.
Voila! Volume Definition and Shine!!!

OK! second day with the spiral roddy, snappy roller thingy, in my hair with the help of kinky curly curling custard and it stayed spirally. I slept with a scarf on my head, tried not to sleep too roughly, woke up and it looked like it had been smushed flat a bit, but then, 30min. to an hour later (without water or anything) it sprung back to life! I am mucho happy about this. This means that kinky curly curling custard is a great hold, we shall see how long this lasts and i'll try my darndest not to touch and mess with it too much.
I really need to get me a digital camera for christmas so I can force myself to document these processes visually.

So, here it goes. I started a hair blog simply to contribute to the myraid of other blogs that already exist about this product. Yes, I rocks my hair au naturale, and yes, it is mucho coily. The helix in my hair strands is really small thus contributing to its ultra coiliness. Me and God shall have some convo. as to why this is thus.







Anyway, after reading a bagajillion comments, blogs, and reviews about this product, I decide to contribute to the enrichment of a very astute and creative black woman, by giving $53 of my hard earned money in exchange for this wonderful, all-natural product. I did, and here is the result:



In every aspect of the word Kinky Curly Curling Custard really does work like any really good gel would&should. It made my coils "pop," which is always a good thing but it did not stop shrinkage; not on the first try, anyway.



On my second trial with the product, I slapped the leave-in-conditioner on my head as instructed, slapped on the nice-smelling goo, and then sat under a hood dryer for about 35 minutes. The final result, waves, which would probably look really nice if my hair was longer, it's not; it's about chin length because I have an obsession with the scissor. I slept with a scarf on my head, woke up the next day and voila! all I had to do to ressurect my waves was sprikle some water on my hair. This is the cool part about the product. All you have to do is spray a little bit of water on your hair and it restores it shine and waves (or curls depending on hair type). Actually, this is probably the only difference between this product and others like it.



Currently, as of yesterday, I used Kinky Curly Curling Custard again; went through the whole process and put in small roller rods to get a more spiral curl, as opposed to coil.

Before I did this, I had purchased a large comb for wet hair called "Wet Look" and a "Denman" brush; both from Sally's Beauty Supply Store. The comb made

my hair look really wavy and the brush actually made the helix coil look slightly larger; lets say my coil is about 2mm in diameter (not sure what the actually spacing is for each curl, but thats how it feels, really teeny tiny small) the brush made it look like 4mm; in other words, the coils looked slightly bigger. I will definitely try this comb and brush method on its own next time.

It came out nice and dry, like I used a setting lotion. Tonight I will slap on my hair scarf, try my best not to sleep too roughly, and see if the spirals are still in place tomorrow.


Another cool thing about Kinky Curly Curling Custard is that it miraculously soaks up all the conditioner in the hair, its crazy cool; like a sponge soaking up water right before your eyses. So, the keyword is here is moisture, moisture, moisture, which is good because textured hair of any kind, craves moisture. This is also key to having the product not flake - Don't use too much of it, and use a lot of conditioner and you'll be relatively flake free!
